Alter Trade Corporation is an Alternative Trading or Fair Trade Company that was initiated as a response to the prevailing socio-economic crisis that hit Negros in the mid-80′s. It exports certified organic fresh and processed food products like muscovado sugar, Balangon bananas, banana bread sticks and banana chips, among others.
Alter Trade started its operation in 1988 upon credit from the Japanese Committee for Negros Campaign (JCNC) and secured an organic certification for muscovado products in 1995. It has benefited in terms of new product development from the ANP Bulawan Award where it is a three-time winner, once in the Food packaging category on the 9th Bulawan awards, and twice as Best Product in the food category on the 10th and 14th Bulawan awards. These new product innovations become new product offerings.
Alter Trade participates in national and International trade fairs and exports its muscovado sugar to Europe (Germany, France, Switzerland & Austria), Japan, USA, Malaysia and Korea. It also exports its fresh green bananas, pineapple and corn to Japan. It caters, as well, to the domestic market to include Manila and Luzon supermarkets, as well as retail stores in Bacolod, Iloilo and Cebu.
Alter Trade is a member of the International Fair Trade Association (IFAT) and is an FLO certified producer.
