Profile
Established in 2004, Atelier Aguila is a company that handcrafts contemporary art furniture and accessories using recycled, salvaged and antiquated materials of wood and stone.
Environmentally driven, the company sources its materials from salvaged and recycled wood. Timbers from demolished old houses, century old railroad sleepers, driftwoods, and excavated timbers of prime wood are examples of limited natural resources of the company. Unique resources – antique limestone rice and corn grinders, which are acquired from remote villages – are also key components of our product.
In 2003, a material of utmost rarity was discovered which inspired our launching as a company. Excavated meters below the ground near a river bank, timbers of semi-petrified ipil wood serve as the most ideal material for our vision of environmentally conscious works of functional art.
Karl Aguila, a sculptor who is educated in the U.S. and Europe, designs and trains local craftsmen to handcraft art furniture and objects using sensitive recycled materials.
Atelier Aguila aims to produce limited handcrafted masterpieces of fine art furniture and objects that are executed by passionate labor utilizing the most sensitive materials in recycling fashion. We aim to inspire a discriminating connoisseur who values high aesthetics, original concepts, and environmental matters.
