Profile

Reeds & Weeds is a handicraft business that makes use of indigenous raw materials with sustainable sources to fashion interesting furniture, tabletops, trays, planters, lamps, and woven baskets with ceramic accessories.

It started in 1985 to help generate employment in Negros. Because of positive response from the domestic market, owner Sylvia Campos had to set up different communities all over Negros to meet a growing demand for the products. From a small backyard operation, the company had expanded into the export market and became a regular participant in the CITEM Market Weeks. Trade exhibitions abroad include the International Frankfurt, Ambiente & Autumn Fair from 1994-1998, Manila FAME International Market week since 1990, Philippine International Furniture Show since 2000, and the Hong Kong Furniture Show 2006.

Reeds & Weeds does market research and product enhancements. It gets assistance from ANP in terms of market exposures through organized trade fairs and on-line product selling, trainings and seminars, market trends updates, and channeling of financial assistance from CIDA Pearl. It displays its products at the ANP Showroom in Bacolod City.

Awards include the 1990 Katha Award (CITEM) Best product design and best product collection, the 1994 Bulawan Award (ANP) Best product collection, the 1996 Bulawan Award (ANP) Best product collection, the 1999 Katha Award (ANP) Best product collection, and the 2006 Bulawan Award (ANP) Best product design.
