Sambong is one of the most widely tested traditional herbs that is being advocated by the
Department of Health and The Philippines National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) for
use in the dissolution of kidney stones. It is traditionally used as anti-diarrheal and anti-spasmodic.
Sambong has been also found to be useful in the management of mild cases of hypertension and
edema because of its diuretic properties.
